I will be leaving for Brazil on the 25th of this month! I will be gone for about a year and will be having 4 different host families. I am going through the Rotary Youth Exchange for any of those interested in the same opportunity that I was blessed with! I will be in the state of São Paulo in a rather small town with amazing people. I am going to be the first Foreign Exchange student at my school ever, so it is cool to think I may be the first American people meet! Because I am leaving, I will be providing a frequently asked questions. Thank you for the support!
1.) How often will we get updates?
The Rotary likes exchange students to participate in what is called "Going Dark." This means, the student refrains from social media for a period of time, I will be doing the first 90 days. The student does not talk to family members or friends via instant messaging or posts on any social media. This is to prevent homesickness. However, do not worry, I will be able to send letters back to my family. As for posting, I will try to do once a month after the initial 90 days. That being said, on other social media platforms I will most likely not respond to comments, so please do not be hurt if this is the case.
2.) What photos will I be expecting?
The usual kind of stuff, most likely not edited as usual. However, I will be having a trip to the Amazon while I am in Brazil! So, expect a lot of cool photos from that experience!
